I welcome replies from other music directors who may have had to release an auditioned singer from membership. I do have the support from the choir executive and need to address this issue as numerous singers no longer wish to stand beside this aging soprano at performances. The singers has years of choral experience and is a trained singer. She is aware of her own vocal challenges but firmly believes herself to be a contributing high soprano voice to her section. Self-assessment is not going to happen. I have been able to accommodate for the last few years through a variety of means, but it has now come to a point where her membership needs to be withdrawn. How has this worked for you without killing the singer’s love for music and spirit?
