New Choral Society (Scarsdale, NY) Auditions

August 25, 2020 by infonewchoralsociety-org Leave a Comment

The New Choral Society, under the direction of Dr. John T. King, will be holding auditions by appointment September 8-11 at Hitchcock Presbyterian Church in Scarsdale.

If you sing in another choir that is currently not rehearsing, we are also accepting temporary members.

About the audition:
Each audition will last about 15 minutes, and no prepared material is necessary. The audition will include vocal range exercises, vocal agility exercises, pitch-matching and sight-singing. The audition will be socially distanced, and you will be separated from Dr. King by a plastic barrier. More information can be found at newchoralsociety.org/auditions

About rehearsals and performances:
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we are currently planning to hold short, outdoor rehearsals with 1-2 sections at a time. We will present our regular concert season, but performances may be live-streamed or pre-recorded depending on the circumstances.

About the chorus:
The award-winning chorus is an all-auditioned, balanced group of 48 singers who meet Monday evenings from September through May in Scarsdale, NY. Now in its 27th season, the chorus performs classical masterworks with an orchestra and features soloist from many of the world’s most famous stages, including the Metropolitan Opera. There are no financial commitments (dues, music purchase, ticket sales, fundraising, etc.) and singers are provided one complimentary ticket for each concert. For more information, or to schedule an audition, please e-mail .
