Memorial Day Performance? Keep It Simple!!

May 22, 2022 by Adam Paltrowitz Leave a Comment

If your group is performing for Memorial Day, this blog post may be right up your alley.

So often, our ensembles serve the community. These performances are completely different than our typical chorus concerts as there are many factors not in our control.

This brand new blog post explains how to impact audiences at community events such as Memorial Day. The first key is being prepared for the unexpected.

A New Sight Singing Tool That Has My Choir SHOOK!

May 15, 2022 by Adam Paltrowitz Leave a Comment

A brand new sight-singing tool just came out that has made sight-singing FUN and EXCITING in my choirs.

My students and I were fortunate enough to be beta-testers. The very first time my students used it, their eye lit-up and they were sold!

Now that it has officially been released, I want the choral world to know about it.

One more thing: YOU MAY ALREADY HAVE FREE ACCESS TO IT and not even know it!

Basic Math or Matching Pitch: Which Skill Is More Important?

March 27, 2022 by Adam Paltrowitz Leave a Comment

Imagine if learning to matching pitch was treated like learning basic math:

We certainly believe everyone can learn addition and subtraction. In fact, our public schools require that all students learn how to add and subtract.

If a student struggles to understand the concept of basic math, how is this handled? It’s likely the school will provide extra help. The student remains in class, but also receives individualized training until they have caught up to the other students.

Do we give up on a student who can’t add or subtract? Never. We continue to find approaches that reach them.

So why don’t we don’t we treat the skill of matching pitch the same way?

Self-Selected Choir vs Non-Auditioned Choir: 12 BIG DIFFERENCES!

March 20, 2022 by Adam Paltrowitz Leave a Comment

There is a BIG DIFFERENCE between a self-selected choir and a traditional non-auditioned choir.

Both ensembles are only as good as it’s strongest singers.

So where are your strongest singers?
Are they in a select group instead?

Is your “y’all come” choir stripped of all talent? Is it plagued by apathy?

This blog post offers a different approach to a traditional choral program.

The Fastest “Tone-Deaf Quiz” You’ve Ever Given!

March 13, 2022 by Adam Paltrowitz Leave a Comment

My latest blog post offers a simple approach for ensuring your struggling singers are not tone-deaf.

This 2 minute “tone-deaf” quiz will not only help you to quickly assess if your struggling singers could actually be tone-deaf, it will help you to figure out if their ear is even the problem at all.

You can give this quiz to one student or your entire chorus all at once!

Either way, it will take up less than 3 minutes of your time.
