CANTATICA Announces Board of Directors Chair

CANTATICA, Allentown, PA, is pleased to announce the appointment of Maureen Scullion as Chair of its newly formed Board of Directors. Ms. Scullion is Vice President of Heritage Investment Portfolio, LP and Central Bucks Management Services, LLC. While her past nine years have been spent in the real estate field, her career has included over 20 years experience in the arts, with emphasis on non-profit management and organization development. Her experience has included management positions with several non-profit arts organizations including; Chorus America in Philadelphia, The Magnet and Lantern Theater companies and Momentum Productions. She also served as Assistant to the President of the American Boychoir School in Princeton, NJ. In addition to her work with non-profit organizations, Ms. Scullion spent several years as a theater Director, directing productions in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, North Carolina and Tennessee.  She is thrilled to have been named Board Chair of CANTATICA, a new, progressive, non-profit, professional chamber music organization devoted to broadening the scope of choral, vocal and instrumental music. She is also a member of the Heritage Theater Company, a new production company in the Philadelphia area.

ChoralNet, Inc. Board of Directors Meeting

Members present: Frank Albinder, Ian Bullen, Philip Copeland, James Feiszli (chair), Dean Ekberg, Tom Tropp
 
I. The final merger outline, previously circulated via email, was reviewed for final approval. The following issues were discussed.
 
a. Is there still a need for a ChoralNet Board if it simply becomes a subcommittee of ACDA? (Ekberg)

i. Board is necessary to oversee operations on the website, as well as to develop new projects (Copeland)
 
ii. Incorporation of ChoralNet Board into the ACDA Technology Committee will give the committee a dedicated subcommittee to handle all web-based initiatives. (Feiszli)
 
iii. ChoralNet Committee will still have a great deal of autonomy in the direction of this entity (Feiszli and Copeland)
 
iv. Subcommittees do not have term limits, as committees do (Copeland)

b. List of responsibilities (section II) was revised to clarify its inclusion as a guideline. (Feiszli)
 
c. A provision was added to continue funding for our annual face-to-face meeting. (Albinder)
 
d. Wording of Section IV was altered to clarify the dissolution of ChoralNet, Inc. (Albinder)
 
e. Partners remain concerned about losing visibility as the new structure is formed, and would like to find a way to address the legacy partners in any new structure. (Bullen) A provision was added to Section V addressing this issue.
 
II. Revised final document was distributed and a roll call vote was taken to accept the document (moved by Ekberg, seconded by Albinder). The final document has been attached to these minutes.

III. Bullen moved for adjournment; Copeland seconded. Passed unanimously

St Bartholomews church Armley, Leeds, UK has announced the appointment of award winning Composer and Conductor, Tim Knight to spearhead and lead a ambitious plan for a Choral foundation at the church,
Already famous as the home of a Schulze Organ presided over by Professor Graham Barber, a innovative 3 year plan to provide the church with a choral foundation on 21st century plans which will provide a choral pesence for services at this magnificent large Victorian Church, the plan encompasses opportinities for visiting choirs and also choral workshops and concerts.
‘I am firmly convinced that using new methods a Choral foundation can be built up even in these days, says Tim, and this fine church deserves one to complement the amazing organ  and wonderful acoustics,’

Breakfast is being served for Temple Music Alumni during the Eastern Division American Choral Directors Association Convention. We will meet at the Marriott Downtown Hotel, 13th & Market Streets Philadelphia, PA in the Thirteen (13) Restaurant on the lobby level of the hotel on Saturday, February 13th at 7:00 am. This will be an important time for us as we extend our appreciation to Alan Harler who will be retiring at the end of this academic year.Dean Robert Stroker, Jeff Cornelius, Alan Harler and I will be there to meet and greet you. This will be our 21st Annual Breakfast.
Needless to say, it is imperative that you send in your reservation and check before February 1 to guarantee a space. The charge for a beautiful buffet breakfast is $18.00 to offset the expenses. Please send check to me made out to Temple University Music Alumni.
