Consortio, the revolutionary marketplace that connects composers’ consortium ideas and ensembles who make them a reality, focuses on an upcoming project every week. This week’s spotlight is on Timothy Michael Powell’s “Consider the Lilies” which will be for SATB and small instrumental ensemble of piano, strings, and optional additional instruments.
Timothy has a special impetus for writing this work, which will be an accessible yet profound “work of comfort for those who have lost loved ones.” Timothy explains that “10% of the proceeds will be donated to The Cecilia ‘Lily Kate’ Powell Fine Arts Scholarship, which provides private lesson funds for deserving students in the Augusta, GA area. The non-profit scholarship was founded in memory of my daughter Lily Kate, and is hosted by The Cecilia Ensemble, a professional vocal ensemble in Augusta. I encourage you to explore the information about the scholarship, my daughter, and the ensemble at https://www.thececiliaensemble.com/lilykatescholarship.html
This is another project that is already funded, but you can still join to be part of the premiere window before the score delivery deadline on August 1st. After that, you’ll have to wait 9 months to buy the scores from Timothy (and listen to the various premieres of the work around the country in the meantime!).
Consortio is making commissioning easier, more accessible, and more impactful for all involved. Most of the consortium projects on Consortio cost only a fraction more than the purchase of a set of octavos, so a new music experience is available to nearly everyone. Please visit consortio.io for more information on our composers, their projects, and the ensembles that make them a reality.
