Michaels received his Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Music Education from Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota, where he studied with Rene Clausen, Paul Hindemith, and Michael Smith. He went on to pursue his passion for choral music as a Bass with From Age to Age. In addition to directing From Age to Age, Michaels is a choral music teacher at Sartell High School.
Prior to his appointment as From Age to Age's Artistic Director and directing at Sartell High School, Michaels was head of music at Community of Peace Academy, where he taught K-8 general music and 9-12 choir. He attended the National Conductor’s Symposium in Vancouver, British Columbia, studying under Jon Washburn. At the Symposium, Michaels conducted the Vancouver Chamber Choir in concert, titled Poetry in Music.
Michaels was born and raised in Tempe, Arizona, where he began his musical career in the Phoenix Symphony Guild. Michaels is an active church musician, directing youth and children’s choirs. When not making music, Michaels enjoys outdoor activities such as river rafting and traveling.
