As a tenor, Anthony has performed as a professional soloist in oratorio and recital engagements. He has also appeared as a soloist on the Gothic Label album
Greater Love: The English Choral and Organ Tradition
featuring the East Carolina University Chamber Singers conducted by Daniel Bara. This recording is available for purchase through Gothic as well as Itunes.
As a composer, Anthony was a student of
Ed Jacobs
. He has had numerous works performed by High School, Festival, All-State, Collegiate, Community, Religious, and Professional Organizations in concerts, recordings, video games, and on TV and is published on GIA's "Evoking Sound" choral series. In 2005, Anthony was commissioned to compose "Prayer of Columbus" for performance at the United Nations in New York City. In 2008, his anthem "O Master Let Me Walk With Thee" was performed by the Crystal Cathedral Choir both at the Western Division ACDA convention and on the internationally syndicated television broadcast "
The Hour of Power
". In 2009, he composed the soundtrack for the video game “
National Geographic Traveler's Sudoku: China!
” and his choral work "Oh Thou Great Power, In Whom I Move" will appear on ECU Chamber Singers' Gothic label recording to be released later in the year. Anthony was also the featured composer for the choirs of the New England Conservatory during their 2009 - 2010 concert season.
As a conductor, Anthony has prepared and conducted a wide range of works from instrumental and vocal chamber works to full symphony and choral master works. He has made numerous guest conducting appearances and has prepared choirs for such esteemed conductors as James Conlon, James Jordan, David Newman, Donald Neuen, and Alexander Treger.
From 2001 to 2005, Anthony served as director of the Piscataway High School (NJ) choirs. A large (200 + voice) performance intensive department who made regular performances at NJ State Department of Education meetings, Teen Arts Festivals, and
Carnegie Hall
. In 2007, Anthony was one of eight selected as a semi-finalist in the ACDA National Student Conducting Competition and was invited to serve on the faculty of the
New York State Summer School of the Arts
(NYSSSA). From 2007 to 2010, Anthony served as Conductor of the UCLA University Chorus, Director of Music Ministries at
American Lutheran Church
in Burbank, CA, and Assistant conductor of the
Angeles Chorale
. Since, 2008 he served as the Associate Conductor of the
Westminster Choir College Summer Vocal Institute
. Anthony has studied conducting with
Daniel Bara
,
James Jordan
,
Andrew Megill
, and
Donald Neuen
.
In addition to his responsibilities at William Jewell College, Anthony serves as Music Director for Platte City United Methodist Church in Platte City, MO and serves as Artistic Director of
Freelance Ensemble Artists
of NJ,a newly formed organization dedicated to providing performance opportunities for collegiate, young professional, and veteran musicians. Currently a full symphony orchestra, FEA plans to expand to encompass a symphonic choir in the summer of 2011.
