I have been a professional singer for over 50 years. I have sung in professional choirs all my life. In the twilight of my years (I am age 67) I have been struck with a passion to compose. My choral singing experience and private and independent study have taught me what my idea of good choral music should sound like. Thankfully modern notation software such as Sibelus, has enabled me to put on paper the musical ideas rattling around in my head. I have uploaded many pieces to SibeliusMusic (now ScoreExchange) and have enjoyed the feedback from other composers..
As a part of my compositional process, I frequently meet with with Lee Dengler, who has published many choral pieces over the years. We discuss my work in hopes of creating compositions that will be worthy of performance and publication.
I consider my choral genre to be modern classical. I do not compose so called praise music. I especially enjoy settings of spirituals and chants. I have several SAB works, since many small choirs can access that notation more easily.
I look forward to being a contributing member of this merry band of musicians.
I have created a new website to distribute choral scores for FREE.
I have gathered several other composers to post their musical efforts on the site as well.
We are hoping that by making the scores free, choir directors will be abe to perform our works without budget restraints.
Let us know what you think.
