Joseph Young received a BME from Illinois State University and an MM in choral conducting from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. He is currently a DMA candidate in choral conducting from Boston University, studying with Ann Howard Jones, Scott Jarrett, Scott Metcalfe, and David Hoose. Born and raised in Illinois, Joseph has taught music at all levels and has conducted choral ensembles of virtually every type including professional, community, church, children, high school, and college. He also has extensive experience as an arts administrator, working for the Merit School of Music in Chicago, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the Tanglewood Institute of Boston University. A freelance composer and arranger of numerous unpublished works for chorus and piano, Joseph has also worked as singer and conductor with Fred Stoltzfus, Chester Alwes, Anne Heider, Michael Schwartzkopf, Donald Chen, and Michael Thompson. He lives in Quincy with his wife Tara and children Evan and Charlotte.
