I am a composer of choral music for adult and children's ensembles. I have composed numerous settings of Jewish texts as well as settings of Shakespeare, Teasdale, Whitman, and other poets. My music for children's groups often features humorous texts that I have written. Many of my pieces for children's ensembles have been featured by the prepartory choirs of the Chicago Children's Choir.
Several of my works are published by E. C. Schirmer (Boston), Transcontinental Music (New York), and Opus Music (Evanston, IL).
Chicago a cappella has included three of my Shakespeare settings on their Cedille recording "Shall I Compare Thee". The same ensemble has recording two of my Chanukah pieces on their album "Holidays, Live" and will be including my setting of Im Ein Ani Li on their 2011 release "Days of Awe and Rejoicing: Radiant Gems of Jewish Music".
Performance recordings of some of my work can be heard at my website: http://bobapplebaum.com/
