Lucy Hudson Stembridge is a professional singer, vocal music teacher, and choral director.  She also writes and arranges songs. Her experience includes being a Staff Soprano at St. Mark UMC, as well as teaching voice, and presenting workshops for choral groups.  She holds a Bachelor of Music Education-Voice Performance from Converse College School of Music and a Master’s in Vocal Performance from Ga. State University, including a special project-course in vocal pedagogy (how to teach voice) in which she learned and demonstrated techniques from all the university voice professors’ studios.  She studied dance with Atlanta Ballet and theatre with Alliance.
Her experience includes directing church and community choirs, teaching music in public and private schools, and writing/developing songs, shows, and arrangements.  She teaches private lessons in voice, piano and guitar.  She has conducted and sung professionally in the Southeast U.S. A. and Europe, including the premiere follow-up performance of Curtis Bryant's “Cantata for One Earth”, sung by the gathered United Nations 50 Choir, and attended by former First Couple Jimmy and Roselyn Carter.  She also enjoyed singing the soprano solos in ChoralFest - Moses Hogan Spirituals under the baton of Dr. Norma Raybon.   Along with her performing career, she enjoys sharing her knowledge and seeing singers grow.  Currently, she is enjoying the creative muse in varied genres; Mozart, improvisation, gospel, and songwriting.  She enjoys responding to contemporary trends by helping participants choose "praise choruses", current hits, and suchlike, that have lyrical/theological integrity and musical quality.
Her teaching experience includes 5 years as the Choral Director (including 2 years as Magnet Voice Teacher) at Mt. Zion Fine Arts Magnet School, as well as 5 years in other systems.  She has formed and directed 2 choral groups: Synergy and Millennium Singers; both groups did a variety of styles of music with staging/choreography.  Five consecutive summers she has been the soprano soloist and vocal coach for the W. Baker Choral Groups, whose concerts have included Mozart’s Requiem and Schubert’s Mass in G.    Her favorite musical theatre roles have been “Marian” in The Music Man and Grace in Annie Warbucks (sequel to Annie).  She worked as the requested Vocal Coach for two contemporary Gospel groups - The Chosen Vessels, (adults) and Wee B Sunday School (youth).  She directed music for CAST’s Cinderella and Treasure Island, and N.H.S.’s Forum. She is married to Frank (software engineer and pianist) and the mother of Gwen (singer and outreach coordinator).
Lucy finds it exciting to share knowledge, ideas, and see people grow spiritually and artistically.  This is especially great when it connects with a positive message and/or a community project that can pull us together, working toward a better world.
