Susan Nace is an instructor at The Harker School in San Jose, CA where she teaches a music survey class and directs Cantilena, a women's chamber ensemble, Camerata, a mixed chamber ensemble, and Guys’ Gig, a men's contemporary a cappella group. Her experience covers a broad spectrum of musical activity from early music, classical recital, musical theater and opera, choral, church music, jazz, and even some country western and rock. As a singer, Ms. Nace currently sings with the San Francisco Symphony Chorus. She has presented several guest artist recitals, performing music from the Renaissance through to contemporary pieces. She also has several roles to her credit in musical theater, opera and chamber opera. As a choral conductor, Ms. Nace’s experience is primarily with chamber ensembles. She directed the Longmont Chamber Singers and Measure for Measure Renaissance Singers, a semi-professional ensemble. Ms. Nace arranges and composes music for theater. She arranged popular 1940s tunes for the musical revue Jukebox Memories. She has composed incidental music scores for various theater companies across the United States. Some of her scores were heard in "As You Like It," "Twelfth Night," "Midsummer Night’s Dream," "The Crucible," "Cyrano de Bergerac" and Harker's "A Christmas Carol" and "Metamorphoses." Under a Melodious Accord Fellowship, Ms. Nace studied with Alice Parker. Ms. Nace holds a B.A. in Music Education and Applied Music from Western State College, Gunnison, CO, and an M.M. in Vocal Performance from the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, CO.
