This is Harv Wileman of Voci Virili Men's Consort, a 10-17 men's ensemble based in Chattanooga, TN. We just had a very successful concert of English sacred music and I decided to commission a young, local composer (early 20's) who is VERY talented to write a TTBB Anglican Evening Service (Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis) for us to premiere at the otherwise all-English concert as there are very few settings of this canticle for TTBB. He did a great job, completed the job on time, and for an extremely reasonable rate. I had heard several of his choral pieces before (he also writes for piano, organ, and solo voice) and loved his harmonic language and vocal writing. I am telling you this in case anyone wants to sing this new work (about 9 minutes total with a bass solo and organ) or commission a new work from him. Having been in the music business for quite a while now, I can say he is the easiest-to-work-with composer (as opposed to arranger) that I've encountered and his is a unique voice that I think will have legs in the choral world. We did not know each other before this commission idea, so I am not writing this as his friend but as a director that has a hard time finding accessible but interesting pieces for men's chorus. His web site is http://www.ethanmcgrath.com/ and his contact info is on the web site. I imagine that he is on choralnet.org as well.
