Voci d'Amici, Dr. Loyd Hawthorne

Location: Texas, USA
Choir type: Professional Choirs
Voicing: Mixed
You’re invited to hear Voci d'Amici, a chamber choir conducted by Dr. Loyd Hawthorne, who headed the choral department at Hardin-Simmons University for 33 years.

The singers hail from various cities in Texas, as well as from Kansas, Missouri, Washington, and Washington, DC.  Dr. Hawthorne has chosen these singers, each of whom he has worked with in the past. In fact, over 90% of the performers attended HSU, where they sang in Concert Choir. The members, many who are music educators, conductors, and professional singers, are paying their own travel costs because each desires to make music with Dr. Hawthorne.

The group will convene in Dallas on June 20 for two days of rehearsals, culminating with participation in worship services and a concert at Wilshire Baptist Church. The music chosen by Dr. Hawthorne includes works by Brahms, Vaughan Williams, Eric Whitacre, Dan Forrest, Daniel Elder, and Daniel Gawthrop.

If you are in the Dallas area on June 22, 2014, come to Wilshire at 3:00 p.m. to hear this new ensemble. Admission is free.
