Memorial Services for Paul Salamunovich

Location: California, USA
From the Paul Salamunovich Page on Facebook:
We finally have the particulars for Paul's services. The rosary will be said for him Friday, May 2nd at 7:00pm at St. Charles Borromeo Church in North Hollywood-Paul's home parish for the past 65 years and where he served as choir director for 60 years. The funeral Mass will be the next day, May 3rd at 10:00am. Due to logistics, the funeral will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church in Hollywood at Sunset and Cherokee where Paul went to school, sang in the boys choir, the men's choir and later was choir director. Burial will be private.
I want to again post Paul's wishes for the funeral so everyone can plan accordingly. The format for the funeral was very important to Paul and was the custom among the members of the St. Charles Borromeo Choir family when one of them passed. When a member died, the choir came down from the choir loft and sat in the pews downstairs where the family would sit and sing from there. The idea here was that the choir WAS a family and they buried their own. In keeping with this and expecting there would be a number of former-choir members of the St. Charles/St. Basi’s, LMU, Mount Saint Mary’s College, LAMC, St. Charles Children’s/Boy Choirs, orchestra members, All-States, workshops, colleagues etc. that might come, he specifically wanted everyone to sing for him one last time and more importantly, together as a family. He wanted people who shared his journey and the joy of singing, to express it all together on his behalf and to help send him home to God. We will be printing a Mass program that will include the music so everyone will have one and can sing. All the music will be primarily in unison including the chant requiem. The only two exceptions will be the Arcadelt Ave Maria and the “O God Of Lovliness, both of which will be in 4 parts. We hope you can come and help us celebrate Paul’s life.
The Salamunovich family also wanted everyone to know that there will be a post-funeral reception with a light lunch, "al fresco" at 2:00pm on Saturday, May 3rd in the Sculpture Gardens, adjacent to the Sacred Heart Chapel on the campus of Loyola Marymount University where Paul was professor of music for 28 years. It should be a beautiful day at a a beautiful site overlooking the bluff as many of you may remember singing Spring Chorales there for many of those 28 years. We hope you can come after the funeral to continue the celebration of Paul’s life.
