Selling Old Anthems/Collections

Has anyone had any luck selling anthems and anthem collections that their church doesn't use? I sometimes see some advertised on this site but I don't know if those people ever have any success. Anyone have any tips for me?

I have responded as a BUYER to these ads on several occasions but getting USEFUL information from the sellers was like getting access to the Vatican Archives!  You nee to have a TITLE LIST giving the composer, edition, condition of the copies, and quantity.  MUCH «good» music is Out of Print and only available this way. You should have NO problem moving anything worthwhile if you provide complete info.

Hi Clay:
I have not tried to sell any, but I have had luck purchasing both a few and a large collection of anthems in the past. In my opinion, it depends on the type of music, age of pieces and whether it is geared for a certain denomination. It certainly (in my opinion) worth the effort, keep in mind that the potential purchaser is looking for a bargain and you should not expect to make your initial investment back.  Also you may consider offering items on a loan basis, with the person pays only for the shipping costs both ways.
Good Luck

I, too,  have purchased much used music from Young's Music Store -- White Hall, PA (Allentown area). They make it I imagine they'll sell yours for you, too.  Great folks to deal with!  But...that aside...I'd be glad to take a look at what you have to sell, too.  Do you have a list we could look at?
Good luck...

Hello Clay,
I have had a lot of success selling anthems on this site.  I listed each piece by title, composer, arranger, publisher, and accompaniment options.  I had approximately 100 copies of each piece along with any available InstruPax or Orchestrations and I sold each title complete for $25 per title.  We made about $2,000 over the course of about 6 months.
