                                                        Greater New Haven Community Chorus to Present Series of Choral Workshops
 
 
New Haven, CT – February 26, 2014 – Greater New Haven Community Chorus will present a series of choral workshops to take place from April through July.  The series of four workshops will feature leading choral conductors from Connecticut, and award-winning composer Jake Runestad.
 
The following workshops will be offered:
 
Ritmica:  A Unique Approach to Rhythm
Workshop Leader: Chelsea Tinsler
Date:  Wednesday, April 2, 2014 – 7:00 - 9:30 pm ­­
Location:  Hamden Middle School Music Room, Hamden, CT
  • Develop a deeper concept of rhythm as a musical and choral element
  • Overcome arithmetical challenges and counting to something that is more melodic and intuitive
  • Improve your flexibility to feel rhythm and to internalize it in a deeper way 
 
Reading Session:  An Evening with Award-winning composer Jake Runestad
featuring his work “I Will Lift Mine Eyes”

Date:  Wednesday, May 28, 2014 – 7:00 - 9:30pm
Location:  Hamden Middle School Music Room, Hamden, CT
Sight read with a conductor who has worked with student, volunteer, and professional ensembles across the U.S.A.  An advocate of new music, he has conducted the premiere of several of his own works.
 
Sing-In:  Masterwork Sing with Gabriel Löfvall ~ Haydn’s Missa Brevis in B-flat (Sancti Joannis de Deo)
Workshop Leader:  Gabriel Löfvall 
Date:  Tuesday, June 24, 2014 – 7:00 - 9:30pm
Location:  First Presbyterian Church, New Haven, CT
Work with one of Connecticut’s finest conductors.  Join noted maestro Gabriel Löfvall and fellow singers from Greater New Haven Community Chorus for an intensive sing-in experience focusing on Haydn's Missa Brevis in B-flat.  You’ll have a blast, meet new people, and make wonderful music.  All singers will receive a complimentary score.
 
Real Men Sing:  A choral workshop for male singers, with Noah Blocker-Glynn

Date: Tuesday, July 22, 2014 – 7:00 - 9:00pm
Location: First Presbyterian Church, New Haven, CT
You will be amazed and encouraged as our workshop leader helps you discover and hone some of your basic skills in tone production, vowel formation, and listening for tuning.
