Bach Children's Chorus (Toronto) seeking concert venues April, 2014
Date: November 5, 2013
Location: Ontario, Canada
Choir type: Children's and Youth Choirs
The touring choir of the Bach Children's Chorus is a selected group of accomplished SSAA singers aged 13 to 16, based in the Greater Toronto area. The choir from which the touring singers are chosen recently won the top national award for choirs in the 2013 Federation of Canadian Music Festivals competition. Our tour plans for spring, 2014, have fallen through, and we are now seeking venues to perform concerts in the period between April 23 and 26. In return for a concert, we ask a concert venue, an audience, and homestays for 25-30 singers. Any meals and/or bag lunches offered would also be very welcome! There is no fee for the concert. We will undertake our own bus expenses and all other tour expenses, including our chaperone accommodation. Perhaps you have a church or community organization that would like to mount a concert to benefit the community, or to help repair an organ or church roof? We are very willing to do a concert on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday (April 23-26, 2014) within a day's drive of Toronto (Ontario, Quebec, New York state, Michigan....). Our tour repertoire is chosen to be interesting and enjoyable for both choral musicians and a general audience, and will include music by our wonderful accompanist, composer Eleanor Daley. I would be happy to send you recordings of the choir and a list of repertoire. Please go to www.bachchildrenschorus.ca to read more about our choir and for my bio. Unfortunately, we have a fairly short deadline to decide whether we will tour. We must make a decision by the end of this month (November 30). Please do not hesitate to write me if you have questions. Thank you for considering this!
