I.T. Creswell Arts Magnate Middle School, Ezell Harding Christian School and H.B. Williams Elementary Awarded Grants from the Nashville Singers

[Nashville, TN] I.T. Creswell Arts Magnate Middle School in Nashville, Ezell Harding Christian School in Antioch, and H.B. Williams Elementary in White House, TN have each been announced as recipients of a $500.00 Music Makes a Difference music education grant from Nashville Singers, to support their music education programs. In the last three years, this nonprofit performing arts organization has awarded $5,000 in music education grants and scholarships impacting 200 students at seven schools across Middle Tennessee.

This mission for the Nashville Singers is to enrich lives through singing and the support of music education. In addition to grants to area schools, the chorus funds several programs, including a free singing lessons program entitled A cappella Academy, middle and high school master classes, and the Educator of the Future college scholarship created for students pursuing a music education degree.

Nita Smith, music educator from I.T. Creswell added, “We are so grateful for the generosity of the Nashville Singers and to have received this grant. Our students will use this money to purchase music and it will create opportunities for more students to participate in activities related to the Middle Tennessee Vocal Association.” Bethany Stepleton, Director and music educator at H.B. Williams stated, “We are so thrilled that we have been given this wonderful gift from the Nashville Singers. Thank you for believing in us!” Linley Griffin, Fine Arts Director at Ezell Harding remarked, “This grant is a huge blessing to our school and to the Fine Arts Academy and will help us with future productions. Thank you Nashville Singers!”

About the Nashville Singers
This auditioned choral ensemble performs a diverse, primarily a cappella repertoire, covering many genres of music. They have grown from four to 17 singers, racked up 60 performances for 37 organizations in seven counties across Tennessee. The singers travel from Brentwood, Franklin, Hendersonville, Hermitage, Lebanon, Mount Juliet, Nashville, Portland, Smyrna, and La Vergne to participate in chorus activities. The Nashville Singers have had the pleasure of singing for several dignitaries, including Nashville Mayor Karl Dean, United States Senator Trent Lott, Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam, and Lieutenant Governor Ron Ramsey to name a few. In 2013, The Nashville Business Journal’s annual “Book of Lists” ranked the Nashville Singers 8th in their list of the “Top 20” performing arts organizations in Nashville.
