The mission of the ACDA is to inspire excellence in choral music through education, performance, composition, and advocacy.

I am pleased to report that Maestra Carmen Collado's visit to the Eastern Division for the 2012 ACDA International Conductor Exchange Program with Cuba has successfully come to a close and she is now on her way back to Cuba after a brief visit with friends and family in NYC and Miami.
This year's exchange would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of ICEP Division Hosts Michael Kerschner, Amanda Quist, and John Warren who supported this worthy program from the very beginning. Their contributions in New York, at Westminster Choir College, and Syracuse University respectively, are too great to mention here, but it is necessary to say that without their tireless efforts, this program would not have been possible. Additionally, I would like to thank Eastern Division President Bob Eaton for his unconditional support of this exchange.
2012 ACDA Eastern Division Conference highlight (among many, many, many highlights!!!):
Latino Repertoire Honor Choir Rehearsal - Maestra Carmen Collado working side by side with conductor Tony Guzman of Luther College on El Guayaboso by Guido López Gavilán which was originally arranged for Maestra Collado in the 1960's!
Maestra Collado's visit has enriched the lives of those she has come into contact with during her visit and has opened the door to the possibility of a meaningful relationship with Cuban conductors and musicians.
Thank you for making this exchange with Cuba a reality and I hope every exchange in each division proves to be as successful this spring!
