This special concert will contrast and combine the musical worlds of Salzburg and New York City in 1780. Contemporary hymns, works by Billings (the father of American choral singing), Belcher, and Morgan, and Mozart's dramatic setting of the five psalms of the Catholic Vespers service will be presented together. Additionally, New York City composer Trevor Weston's unique new work, Paths of Peace (commissioned by The MCE as part of our New Music For New York program) will be premiered.
