The Blue Lake International Exchange Program has openings for vocal students between the ages of 12 and 18 in the Blue Lake International Choir, schedule to tour Europe in the summer of 2012. Under the direction of Dr. Douglas Rose, the 2012 International Choir will be preparing a program of American and sacred music, and will also joining the Blue Lake International Youth Symphony Orchestra to perform the Requiem by Giuseppe Verdi.
In addition to their European tour, they will have the opportunity to perform the Verdi Requiem at The University of Michigan’s Hill Auditorium. The tour will conclude with a special encore presentation of the Requiem with the Blue Lake Festival Orchestra, Alumni Choir and Staff Choir, under the direction of Dr. Richard Rossi, at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp.
Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp’s International Program is one of the most respected exchange programs in the nation. Since its inception in 1969, thousands of young Blue Lake Goodwill Ambassadors have performed throughout Europe, living with private host families while on tour and experiencing an educational and cultural experience that will stay with them for a lifetime. Maturity, manners and character are extremely important for each student accepted into the Blue Lake International Exchange Program, as they will serve as ambassadors for Blue Lake, the United States, and their school. Students enrolled in the program are expected to exhibit a high standard of maturity and self-discipline.
