Subject: more multicultural resources

Dear listmembers

David Griggs-Janower kindly assembled a wonderful array of suggestions and
information, which he said I could pass along to the list:

Third PLanet Music
203 California Avenue
Santa Cruz CA 95068
408/426-1968 (hope this is current)

Alliance Music has lots of stuff, in Houston, TX

Twin Elm Publishing
[edited: now part of Emerson Music, 800-518-7214]

Mexican Baroque bibliography came across choralist on Aug 9, 1997 from
tmst(a)calvin.edu - Suzanne Tiemstra. She could probably resend it to
you if you can't find it in the choralist archives. It's very long.
Also she has publsihed a book, The Choral Music of Latin America,
Greenwood Press, 1992.

"Latin American Choral Music Discography" Choral Journal, Nov 1995,
pp57...

"A Global Celebration of Life: Programming Multicultural..." Choral
Journal April 1996, pp. 45...

"Multicultural Resource Guide for Choral Directors," Eastern ACDA
Trobadour, hmmm, no date. Contact Nick Page, head of multicultural
for ACDA, at: npchoralfa(a)aol.com (or 617/539-3192). Surely he has
this info, probably updated, on his computer.

"A Survey of World Folk Music LIterature," Journal of the Conductors'
Guild, Vol 16, No. 2

On Choralnet, on the CRS, under the references sub-directory:
nonUSmus.txt -large file on non-US sources, foreign retailers, etc, by
Jerry McCoy.

Music From Around the World - pamphlet from Lawson-Gould publishers

Other articles of interest in Choral Journal:
December 1994, pp.69...
May 1993, pp. 45...
Sept 1992, pp. 44..
May 1993, pp. 19...
Nov 1991, pp. 15...
Feb 1996, pp. 53..

And Judith Cook Tucker sent the following note:

"...many of
the members turn to us, World Music Press for resources, both choral and
book/audio sets of music about particular cultures, always prepared with the
involvement of members of the culture. If you'd like a catalog of our
publications, send me your snail mail address and I'll get one off to you.
