Subject: EZ Church Anthem Anthologies - Compilation

Colleagues,
Many thanks to all of you who responded to my query for anthologies of ez church anthems for my small Episcopal choir. Below is a compilation of the suggestions I received.

Thank-you.

Most of you recommended St. James Music Press, a publishing company that gives you a cd of 20-25 anthems and permission to copy them for your choir. Their website is:www.sjmp.com/

St. James Music Press:€ Canons & Crotchets - The York Minster Twp-Part Anthem Book
€ The Sunday Morning Absolutely One-Rehearsal Anthem Book for About 10 Panicked Singers.
€ Quavers for Quires - Another Emergency Anthem Book for 10 Panicked Singers

ECS: Concord Anthem Book
#1.

Have you looked at any collections by Augsburg Fortress? I would recommend either volume of the Augsburg Choirbook series especially the Augsburg Easy Choirbook volume 1 or 2. The choirbooks have a variety of pieces with different accompaniment options and have music for all seasons of the church year. Each book costs $9.95 and in my opinion is well worth the cost.

Do you have scores of Handel's "Messiah"? That might be a worthy goal to do excerpts, perhaps solos..

Bach Cantata 130 has two choruses in which the sopranos sing the tune of the Doxology. The ATB parts are more contrapuntal, and thus difficult.
Kalmus edition costs about $6 each.
