Early Music Days Vienna
Organist in the Field of Church Music
For the time being I am living (for the purpose of studying there) in
Amsterdam, where I also get to make practical experiences with church music
in the Netherlands. Up to my moving home my work in Vienna comprised regular
organ duties (subbing for their regular organists) in various churches of
Vienna, such as
Vienna Cathedral (St. Stephan), the
Dominican church of Vienna
where I sub for Professor Hans Haselböck, and
Schönbrunner Schlosskapelle.
My engagements in the past included, for instance:
- an organ meditation for Lent in St .Augustin
For this occasion I played
- Jehan Alain - "Introduction et Variations" from his Suite
- Johann Sebastian Bach - Aus tiefer Not schrei ich zu dir (BWV 686)
- César Franck - "Fantaisie" (A Dur)
- the organ accompaniment of a mass having been shaped and prepared
by members of the course on New Sacred Song of the
Diocesan Conservatory for Church Music of the Archdiocese of
Vienna and held in St. Stephen's
Cathedral
- the organ accompaniment for a mass that was broadcast on the radio in
the course of "Grafenegger
Advent 2001", when I played, in addition to accompaniments for the congregation
and improvisations, also organ works by Johann Pachelbel and the continuo of
Missa "Velociter currit" by Johann Josef Fux. This mass was sung by the
Josef Matthias Hauer Vokalensemble and played by
Ensemble Neue Streicher
under
Oliver Ostermann.
- participation in the first performance of Peter Planyavsky's "Proprium for Mariazell"
on October 2, 2004.
Further emphasis of my work in the field of church music
is on the New Sacred Song.
