My work as a composer

From 2004 onwards composing music has been an ever growing important part of my musical work, a fact that was definitely favored by the choice of "church music composition" as one of two main areas of study for my Master's Studies in Church Music. Here is a link to my list of works.

The majority of my works, for two among which I received stipends through "Wiener Symphoniker Kompositionsstipendium", were premiered in Austria (Vienna and St. Lambrecht). A commissioned work for the Reformed Church in Austria (On Love) for Mezzosoprano, Viola and Orgel was premiered by Beatrice Petitet-Kircher, Axel Kircher and Matthias Krampe. One composition received its premiere through the choir of the church music faculty of the School of Music and Music Education, Gothenburg University, under Gunno Palmquist in Sweden.

My main but by no means my only fields of interest are vocal music and church/sacred music. In works that are being written for a specific liturgical situation I see the interaction of the various liturgical role bearers (congregation, choir, cantor, organist,...) as a central goal. The Second Vatican Concile acknowledged the whole assembled congregation as bearer of the liturgy and thus also of liturgical singing, and in this way to composers of liturgical music presented the challenge to have the community take a share in the realization of their works and to make them interrelate with musically better educated and thus more able role bearers. The development of compository solutions that can come up to this demand and at the same time keep artistic level high seems to be one of the most important tasks of contemporary liturgical composition, in my opinion. This topic is also being researched in my scholarly work.
