NORWOOD, MA — In April 2003, two Norwood High School alumni decided they wanted to sing during the summer.
Ten years later, the Norwood High School Alumni Choir is still going strong.
“I would never have expected it. It’s really exciting. It’s really inspiring. That they want to come back after all these years is pretty cool,” said Cathy Connor-Moen, the choir’s director and director of fine arts for the school district. “I don’t know too many communities where this could happen. It’s unique to Norwood.”The choir formed when Norwood High School Class of 1998 members Nick Kakas and Michelle Bradley asked Connor-Moen about directing a summer group.
“We were talking about it for a few years. We thought it would be really cool to have a summer choir,” Kakas said. “We just wanted to have music in our lives, and this was the best way to do it.”
