The Choristers is accepting appointments for auditions for its 2014 – 2015 concert season
Date: August 28, 2014
Location: Northwestern Suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
The Choristers, one of the premiere concert choirs in the Philadelphia suburbs, is accepting appointments for auditions for its 2014 – 2015 concert season.
On Saturday November 22, 2014 at 7:30, the choir will present a concert with a working title of “The Animals A-Comin’ ~ Choral Music about Animals.” With projected multi-media images of the critters about which we are singing, the choir will not only present serious repertoire about different animals (including Davies Prayers From The Ark, Barber The Monk And His Cat, Stanford The Bluebird, Hindemith “La Biche (The Doe)” and “Un Cygne (A Swan)” from Six Chansons and Whitacre Little Birds) but also have some serious fun (Whitacre Animal Crackers, Lennon/McCartney’s Blackbird accompanied by acoustical guitar, and the piece which gave birth to the title of the concert: De Animals A’Comin’ arr. Bartholomew).
On Saturday April 25, 2015 at 7:30 PM the choir will present the mammoth Mendelssohn Elijah accompanied by a 40 piece orchestra and 5 soloists. We are pleased to announce the adult soloists will be Soprano Carole Latimer, Mezzo-Soprano Suzanne DuPlantis (http://lyricfest.org/about/founding-artistic-directors/suzanne-duplantis/) , Tenor Robert Chafin (www.robert-chafin.com/), and the role of Elijah will be sung by Justin Hopkins (www.justinhopkinsopera.com/). To make the storyline of this wonderful oratorio come even more alive, the concert will feature minimalist staging (rather than simply having the soloists stand and face forward) and costuming. A night to remember!
