AUDITIONS- LoneStar College-Kingwood Choirs

The Choirs at LoneStar College-Kingwood (located in North East Houston) are seeking vocalists to audition for choral ensembles for the upcoming academic year (Fall 2014 to Spring 2015). Houston area vocalist of all ages and skill levels are encoured to audition. Following is information about the choral ensembles:
Evōk Chamber Choir (pronounced i-vōk), is LSC-Kingwood's newest chamber ensemble. Formed in 2012, the prestigious choir is an eclectic group of sixteen select voices, auditioned from the student body of Lone Star College-Kingwood and incorporating professional musicians from the surrounding community who act as mentors to student performers. The choir’s unique repertoire inclucles a broad range of vocal genres such as madrigals, sacred motets, vocal jazz, modern, American classics, popular, and more. LSC-Kingwood Concert Choir is 35-40 voice academically-centered ensemble. The choir performs a Fall, Holiday, and Spring concert, and tours in the Spring. The ensemble frequently joins forces with the Kingwood Chorale and & Chamber Orchestra to perform traditional masterworks. Kingwood Chorale is a large, volunteer/community driven ensemble, which meets one evening per week to prepare classic masterworks. The choir has been featured several times on Houston's KUHF Classical Radio and has been professionally recorded. In March 2007, members of the Chorale traveled to New York as part of the Kingwood Area Grand Chorus of more than 160 local singers to perform Mozart's Vesperae solennes de confessore in the famed Carnegie Hall, with Dr. Todd Miller conducting. Prospective vocalists are not required to be degree-seeking students to join these ensembles. Community volunteers are encouraged.
