Was founded in 1973 as a liturgical choir at Sanremo's "N. S. della Mercede" parish with the name "Corale Polifonica Mercede" and directed by Father Paolo Maiano, who was replaced one year later by Mario Jones Martini.
In 1983 it became an independent cultural association, devoted to studying, performing and promoting choral music of all kinds and styles.
With its large repertory going from Gregorian Chant to contemporary polyphonic music, it has been involved in concerts, festivals and competitions as well as several performances with orchestras and theater groups, both in Italy and France.
Directed since year 2000 by Eugenio Costa, the Complesso Vocale Sanremo can offer a wide range of classical sacred and profane chants, as well as a growing repertory of so-called "light" or "pop" chants (Gospel, Swing, radio hits etc.) meeting with wide public appreciation.
