The first major choral setting of the diary of Anne Frank, Annelies has been praised for its “woundingly beautiful” music and an extraordinary and moving libretto that captures Anne’s keen observations and indomitable spirit. It brings the story to life with echoes of church bells, popular music, and with music from Frank’s Jewish and German heritage. This year, a 2013 recording of Annelies is nominated for a Grammy award for Best Choral Performance. The concert also includes Hymn to the Eternal Flame, a brief Holocaust memorial work by Stephen Paulus, one of America’s most gifted modern composers. Featuring Lynn Eustis, soprano; with violin, cello, clarinet and piano.
Tickets: $25, $35, $45; reserved pew seating. Limited student/low income rush tickets ($10) will go on sale 90 minutes before the concert starts.
