The choral “Schola Cantorum di Bazzano” was founded in 1919 in Calcara, a small town near Bologna, by a group of people who shared love and enthusiasm for music. They sang having fun, mostly during the liturgical occasions of their parish church.
Since 1983, the choral has been carrying out its indipendant activity in Bazzano. Over past years it has benefitted from the direction of several choirmasters: Alfredo Borghi, Celso Ferri, Sister Anna Maria Borghini and Maria Grazia Borghi. Currently it is directed by Manuela Borghi.
Composed of forty members, male voices and female voices, the choral has participated in numerous choir festivals and has performed many concerts in Italy and abroad (Vienna, Paris, Prague, Salzburg and Karintia). Moreover it has animated the holy mass in some of the most important churches in Italy such as Basilica di Santa Maria degli Angeli in Assisi, Saint Peter’s Cathedral in Vatican, San Giovanni Rotondo; public approval has been flattering in all such occasions.
Schola Cantorum di Bazzano has a considerable presence in the territory where it collaborates with the municipal cultural department and other cultural, voluntary associations.
