High school choirs are invited to participate in the Three Rivers Choral Festival sponsored by the Fort Wayne Children’s Choir (FWCC) and Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) on Saturday, November 17 from 9:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. The featured conductor is Dr. David Rayl, Director of Choral Programs at Michigan State University. In addition, local clinicians Dr. Aaron Mitchell, Director of Choral Activities at IPFW, Dr. Patricia Kennedy, Associate Faculty at IPFW, and Mr. Jonathan Busarow, Artistic Director of the Fort Wayne Children’s Choir will work with each choir on different topics, including effective warm-ups and choral tone.
Dr. Rayl will conduct a workshop with each choir as well as conduct two pieces with the mass choir. Attending choirs will also have an opportunity to perform up to three pieces of their choosing during the final concert held at the conclusion of this fun and educational day. The final concert begins at 4:00 pm EST.
The festival takes place in the great acoustic setting of the Auer Performance Hall located in the IPFW Rhinehart Music Center, Fort Wayne, IN. This facility has enabled IPFW to offer more community events, involve community choirs, and house local music organizations such as the Fort Wayne Children’s Choir, Unity Performing Arts, and others.
