SAB music for Remembrance DayDate: July 22, 2012 Views: 1342
My adult chamber choir traditionally does a Remembrance Day performance of songs and poetry. I'm going to have two tenors on leave this year, so I'm looking for good SAB music - preferably a cappella, and a mix of fast/slow, war/peace, sacred/secular. Any suggestions?

Dear Jo-Anne,
I would highly recommend Abbie Betinis's Blessed Be the Lord, My Rock. It is a superb setting of Psalm 144 for SAB voices and optional organ or piano accompaniment. I believe she composed it on September 12, 2001, in response to the previous day's events. I've conducted this piece twice, and both the choir and myself enjoyed the work. It is available through the online company Graphite Publishing.
Very best,
John

I recommend David Barton's lovely A Prayer for Peace published by Canasg.
Canasg also publishes a flexible arrangement of Hinei Ma Tov that could easily be performed SAAB instead of SATB
