Yale Norfolk Choral Conducting Course Program 2012
The seventh annual Chamber Choir & Conducting Course at the Yale Summer School Chamber Music Festival, Norfolk, Connecticut, runs from August 12th to 18th this year.
There will be a choir of 24 from which 10 members have also been selected as conductors. They are learning the program below and the pieces they will each conduct at the concert will be assigned (in the pub over the road!) on the Thursday evening.
The instrumentalists will have been selected from the Music School and Conservatory students, participating in the chamber music festival throughout the summer. Jessica Petrus, our soprano soloist, is a graduate of the Yale Voice program in Early Music, Oratorio and Chamber Ensemble (musicians.yale.edu/jessica_petrus_soprano/Welcome//).
Our pianist is Lucas Wong (www.lucaswongpiano.com)
As always I will only conduct the new work specially written for the Festival – this year by Yale graduate composition student Loren Loiacono (www.lorencoiacono.com)
The concert is at 4:00 on Saturday, August 18th, in the Music Shed, Norfolk. (www.norfolkmusic.org/school/programs_choir_choral.htm)
